Back in May, I joined forces with illustrator Steve Simpson and Official MINI Classic as we drove from Munich to Westport in Ireland for the 2017 International Mini Meet in one of the last classic Minis and a new Mini as the back up vehicle (and extra luggage space!). The team was myself, Steve, then Wolf, Claudia and Verena from MINI drove through 5 countries to meet with 11 cities’ Classic Mini clubs to talk with them about their love for Mini and the adventures they’ve had with theirs. Over that time, Steve drew on the car with Sharpies, creating an illustration of our trip. The MINI guys drove until the ferry crossing to England, I drove most of the England leg, and Steve the Irish leg.
40 hours of drawing, 2450km, 10 days, 11 clubs, 3 boats, 200 pirates and princesses, and maybe a couple of beers later, we completed our journey. Here’s a very long version of the many, many, many images I took over those 10 days!
As far as I’m aware, the car is now sitting in BMW’s collection in Munich!
